A Journey of Courage, Hope, and Extraordinary Teamwork Unfolds.
In a remarkable tale of resilience and determination, the successful rescue of 41 trapped workers from the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of humanity. Over 17 days of tireless efforts, a multi-agency rescue operation, closely monitored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, unfolded its heroic chapters.
As cheers and slogans erupted, the workers emerged one by one, some with smiles, others expressing gratitude and exhaustion. Ambulances rushed them to the nearest community health center, marking the end of a harrowing 17-day ordeal.
Prime Minister Modi, commending the extraordinary teamwork and humanity displayed during the mission, spoke to the rescued workers, expressing admiration for their courage and resolve. On social media, he saluted the collective efforts that gave a new lease of life to these 41 laborers.
The local residents, overwhelmed with joy, distributed sweets, and anxious relatives, who had endured days of uncertainty, were finally united with their loved ones. As Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister VK Singh welcomed the workers with garlands, the rescue teams and officials applauded the end of a mission that spanned over 400 hours.
The rescue operation faced numerous challenges, but on the last day, using the rat-hole mining technique, rescuers successfully broke through the final stretch of rubble around 7 pm. Less than an hour later, the escape pipe was laid into the drilled passage, enabling NDRF and SDRF teams to enter and bring the trapped workers out on wheeled stretchers, one by one.
